Trippier leaves England camp for betting hearing
England are preparing to take on Denmark in the UEFA Nations League and they’re doing so without Kieran Trippier, as the right-back has left the camp after playing against Wales and Belgium over the past week.
Officially, he has left due to personal reasons
According to reports in England, the full reason for his absence is that the Atletico Madrid player has had to attend a personal hearing over the FA charge that is being brought against him for breaching betting regulations.
Trippier is under investigation because of suspicious betting patterns from the time of his transfer from Tottenham to Atletico Madrid in July of 2019.
Trippier has insisted throughout this process that he did not personally place any bets.
He could be hit with a six-month ban if found guilty, which would be a further headache for Diego Simeone since Trippier is the only right-back available to him right now – following the departure of Santiago Arias and the injury to Sime Vrsaljko.
