Sergi Roberto: I hope there’s a pre-season before LaLiga Santander returns
Sergi Roberto has expressed his desire for LaLiga clubs to be allowed to have a pre-season before resuming the current campaign.
Competitions across Europe have been suspended since mid-March and the action won’t resume in Spain until the government say it’s safe to do so.
«I hope there’s a pre-season when LaLiga [Santander] returns because training right now is different,» Sergi Roberto said.
«I hope that, when the league returns, we can get in shape in order to perform at our best.
«We have a weekly training plan [at home] and they’re also sending me a daily plan.
«With some friends from Reus, we’re also doing video calls and training as a group, which makes it more enjoyable.
«There are people that are training more now they’re at home.»
Like the majority of other Spanish citizens, the Barcelona right-back is confined to his own home to try to stop the spread of coronavirus.
«I’m taking advantage of enjoying time with my daughter,» he said.
«In the bad, there are good things like being with your family.
«I’m doing a bit of sport and I’m playing with her all day.
«I’m quite lucky as she wakes up around eight [in the morning], so I’m being lucky for the moment, but I have to get up during the night.
«I’m watching old matches on TV and it makes you want to play.
«We’re hoping that it isn’t too long [to wait].»
