Saul adds to his legend at Atletico Madrid
Saul Niguez will always be remembered for his goal against Bayern Munich in the knockout stages of the Champions League and for his performance in Atletico Madrid’s 4-0 win against Real Madrid, but his ability to put in a performance for the team when it is really necessary knows no bounds.
His legend remains intact, as his 40 goals in the Atletico first team have resulted in 35 wins and five draws.
Against Alaves, Atletico were having a tough time breaking down the Basque side’s solid defensive unit, but then Saul was moved to the left-hand side, allowing Koke to dictate play through the middle of the park.
Saul later drifted in to connect with a cross and head the ball into the back of the Alaves net to open the scoring for Atletico, cropping up in the right place at the right time, as he always does.
Diego Simeone will be hoping that the 25-year-old continues to bring moments of inspiration as the season enters its final stages, with Los Rojiblancos aiming to continue their run in the Champions League whilst finishing in the top four in LaLiga Santander.
