Lacazette is Atletico Madrid’s Plan B should signing of Cavani fail
Edinson Cavani is still Atletico Madrid’s priority in the January transfer window, but should any move for the Paris Saint-Germain fail, the club will look to Alexandre Lacazette.
Atletico coach Diego Simeone has requested a striker and Cavani is out of contract in June, though PSG seem unwilling to part with the Uruguayan despite the likelihood he could leave for free in six months.
As a result, Atletico have began to evaluate other options and Lacazette is next on their shortlist.
The player has been sounded out over a move to the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on a number of occasions before.
Atletico would offer Arsenal Thomas Lemar as part of any deal for Lacazette as they only have Alvaro Morata as a recognised No.9.
Nevertheless, any plan to make a move for the Arsenal forward won’t be realised until hopes of signing Cavani are completely extinguished.
