After consecutive defeats against Sevilla and Getafe, Real Sociedad bounced back in style at the Reale Arena against Real Betis, thanks again to Mikel Oyarzabal and Martin Odegaard’s magnificent performances to go with goals from Willian Jose and Portu.

Imanol Alguacil’s side have been one of the most attractive to watch this season and their performances have put them in to contention for Champions League football as they currently sit in fourth place.

The side which started the season, convincingly beating Atletico Madrid, Espanyol and Alaves, has not only won the admiration of their own fans but football fans in general.

The defeats away to Sevilla and at home against Getafe looked to have raised doubts, but the game against Betis proved that there was no need for concern.

Loren Moron’s early goal, despite Real Sociedad’s strong start, could have made things difficult for the home side, but Oyarzabal and Odegaard had no concerns.

The Real Madrid loanee is only missing a goalscoring streak to truly establish himself as one of the best in LaLiga Santander, and he was just one of several to play well, from Alex Remiro, who replaced Miguel Angel Moya in goal, to Willian Jose in attack.

Robin Le Normand and Igor Zubeldia both came into the team alongside Portu and Mikel Merino, while there were also great performances from Joseba Zaldua and Nacho Monreal at full-back.

Thanks to these starters, La Real turned the result around against Betis, going from 1-0 down to winning 3-1, which means they end the week in the Champions League positions, though the realistic target remains the Europa League.

With their fixtures coming up at home against Levante and Leganes, with trips to Celta Vigo and Granada in between, results and play are looking promising for the Basque side who are dreaming of European adventures once again.
