Mirandes vs Real Sociedad: Anduva will settle it
Mirandes and Real Sociedad are just one game away from the Copa del Rey final at the Estadio La Cartuja in Seville.
For both teams, but especially the second-tier hosts, this second leg is a chance to make history and make dreams come true.
The LaLiga Santander side lead the tie after their 2-1 win in the first leg at the Reale Arena, but this will be no walk in the park for the visitors.
Mirandes are looking to go one better than they did during the 2011/12 Copa, when they reached the semi-finals as a third-division team before being knocked out by Athletic Club.
That is the closest Los Rojillos have ever got to a Copa final and now, with their centenary year on the horizon, this would be a perfect moment to enter uncharted territory.
They’ll be tough to beat too having not lost at their home stadium, Anduva, since August 24, 2019, against Cadiz.
Three LaLiga Santander teams – Celta Vigo, Sevilla and Villarreal – have already been knocked out of the Copa at Anduva this season.
This is a massive occasion for Imanol’s side too, with the club on the verge of winning their first trophy in 32 years, when they beat Atletico Madrid to lift the Copa.
Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak (seven goals) and Mirandes’ Mateus Aias (six) are also battling it out at the top of the scoring charts in the Copa this season.
They’ll both be hoping to fire their teams not only to the Copa final, but also the final four Supercopa de Espana tournament in Saudi Arabia next season.
