Joaquin: It’s time to sit down with Real Betis and, if we agree, renew my contract
Joaquin is hoping that his hat-trick against Athletic Club at the weekend will prompt talks of a contract renewal at Real Betis.
The 38-year-old had Betis leading 3-0 inside 20 minutes with the first treble of his career and he’s not showing signs of slowing down in Andalusia.
«It’s time to sit down and, if we agree, renew,» Joaquin told Cope.
«I know that they’re happy with me, and I’m happy too.
«It’s a matter of happiness and I’d love to renew.
«I’ve always said that, and I want that even more at the moment because I’m enjoying myself and the team are doing well.»
Despite his age, Joaquin still feels he has a lot to give to the cause and if he didn’t, he’d be the first to call time on his playing days.
«What keeps me alive is that I feel good,» he added.
«You have to compete, fight and be one more player in the dressing room.
«If not, it’d be different.»
