Correa took just two minutes to positive affect Atletico
It took Angel Correa two minutes to do what Thomas Lemar was unable to do in the first 56 minutes of Atletico Madrid’s match away to Real Betis on Sunday evening.
Correa pressed Alex Moreno, forcing him into a mistake, and he then showed his composure in front of goal to take the ball round Joel Robles and pass into the empty net.
In many ways, Correa is the type of player Atletico have been crying out for this season, yet he has failed to stand out when named in the starting line-up, often making a greater impact from the bench, hence why Diego Simeone made him his first change.
This is Correa’s second goal of the campaign, with his first coming in the 3-1 win against Espanyol.
The 24-year-old had been heavily linked with a move away from the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, but he is now one of the players who must step forward to help alleviate the goal drought Atletico have had.
